How does one sum up the lives of seven very different people on one page of one blog? All we can do is try... and here's our best shot. =)

A LITTLE HISTORY...

Our family started this blog as a travel log for friends and family in the summer of 2007. Dad retired from the Navy after 30 years of service, and we all headed into the wild unknown (ahem, that is, "The West"). A few months found us done with house and farm hunting and happily situated on a seven acre piece in Northern Washington.

Blissfully ignorant of all things farm, we jumped in with both feet. Three years later, and a lot wiser, we now have quite the collection of animals including one sweet Jersey cow called Clover, a few heifers and calves now and then, an horse appropriately named Flame, a large flock of chickens, too many lazy cats, one hyperactive Border Collie, a goose, a couple balls of fluff (rabbits), and hundreds of honey bees. Our collection of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs has not remained empty, either - our farm is now home to an assortment of fruit trees (including apple, cherry, pear, plum, and peach), just under five acres of blueberry bushes, a large kitchen garden, several different herbs, and flower gardens of all shapes, sizes, colors, and varieties.
