Januaryness

It's about time somebody updated this thing, don't you think? Scratch that. It's PAST time!
-
So here's a little peek into what our lives have been like... at least since Christmas. =) Hope you enjoy, folks - and come back soon!! We'll try to keep you entertained. =)
-
Much love!
Hannah
for everybody... of course.

Do you see this? Our SAD lack of snow? Pretty bad, huh? =)

Okay, well... Christmas was awesome. I didn't have a "real" camera - *sniff, sniff* - so there aren't many "real" pictures. Toooooo bad.

We haven't been snowboarding/skiing *nearly* enough!! Maybe that's because most of the snow up there is pretty rough... :(

BUT! When it was good... it was good.
.
And the view is *gorgeous*, yes? I can still hardly believe that we live only 20 minutes from a ski hill. Can't get much better than that!
....
Despite the lack of snow, it's frigid outside most days. We've been going through tons of this...
....
And drinking TONS of this.
...
And somewhere in there... I got a new camera!! Yippppeeee!! My blog (and this one, too) will see the light of day again.
Sarah does some dog-lovin'.
...
And then we had to say goodbye to this dude. :( Yep, Joe went back down to ALERT... alllll the way to Texas - to finish the Paramedic course. We miss him!! *sniff, sniff*!

Dude, I'm doing a lot of sniff, sniffing in this post. Must be emotional.
...
Either that or I've caught a cold. Which might be why Sarah doesn't want us to see her - because maybe I gave it to the rest of the family. But it's okay, Sarah, because I put the picture in black and white.
...
Aren't I a good sister? =)
...
Oh, willya look at that creek? Yeah... when I first got home from school in December, it was up about a foot. See the layers of ice? It's pretty cool.
Oh, and this is the other side of the bridge. Same creek as up there, in the other post. Beauuuuuuty-fulll, huh? =)
.
Oh, yes. We have a toy barn that we can pick up and carry around. It's very handy.

Just kidddddding. But that would be great.
...Millie.... our... lovely... ish cow's daughter. =)
...
No, really. She is lovely. Really.
...
And she wants y'all to come back soon, okay? =)

Shame & Disgrace

That's what this blog is!

I see that Sarah didn't post ONCE. Okay, y'all, you can't let her get away with that!! Flood her email, fill up her texts (phone number available on request, lol!), and just pester her in general until she posts. Just kidding... mostly.

But now that I'm home, I promise that things will get more interesting. I'll try to keep it regular... try, try. =) So check back... at least until the end of January, because that's when I go back to college and y'all are in Sarah's hands again!

Until then... well, I had to post at least ONE picture! And since my camera's broken (*sniff*) you'll have to put up with iPhone pictures. Which aren't *that* bad. Right? =)

Much love!
Hannah

Such beauty. *sigh*

RE: Hey Joe

Abigail has learned how to use the email. She does not let us forget this. Here is a sample of a conversation she had with Joe via email the other day. Joe is apparently, after all, good at telling these sorts of stories when it's not face to face; then he doesn't have to worry about keeping his own straight. And he always has a fall-back plan in mind. :D

Hey Abby,

That is you! Well, actually it is not you, but it is your second cousin once removed.

It is called a Long Tailed Abigailis Minimus. It is a rather rare creature that is found in only one place on earth. It lives deep in the jungles of Darkest Peru and eats, shoots and leaves. It is about three feet long (including the tail.) And has a long brown nose with whiskers for helping it feel its way at night. It is a great tree climber. It does not come out during the day very often and only a handful of people have ever seen one. This first one was discovered by the famous British Explorer, Lord Luke I. Havefoundit, on February 16th 1901. That is why he called it an Abigailus Minimus, cause you would be born about 100 years later.

How about that? If you don't understand what I am saying, ask mom. (see what I mean? there is the fall-back, right there!)
Joe

Steve McQueen

Everyone remain calm...we are posting twice in one week!
Don't faint. Please.

So, Sarah and I wanted a new WWII movie to watch. So she bought this...

and fell deeply in like with Steve McQueen's acting. Sarah will still say to herself every once in a while, rather spasmodically, "Cooler, Hilts." A word of caution; only watch this film if you are cool with all the people you are desperately rooting for getting gunned down.

Sarah was...not.

Then we watched this as a family...

and were thrilled to see 'Hilts' on the screen again. He did look a bit odd with all the cowboy clothes and the revolver at first, but ditto with Yul Brynner, who we will always remember as the King of Siam. Again, same caution as beforehand. Even so, I liked this one even better than The Great Escape, but I have a soft spot for cowboy films. Which is why I picked this off the self last time we were in the library...

and if not our sins, than at least our choices caught up with us the other night, as revealed by this dialogue between the girls.

Abby: (for some reason, attempts to swat Sarah with a book)
Hannah: (in a monotone to rival that of Yul Brynner's 'get outta my way, dude' voice) Quit that, ya' hear me?
Sarah: Thank you, Hannah. (glares at Abby)
H: I think we have been watching too much Steve McQueen.
S: Yeah, he is always doing things like that...you know, just in the nick of time.
H: Yeah. (profound pause) I was just waiting for the nick.

Enough said.

(This post is by Roberta...see the sidebar. One of those is "that's me". I have not posted since we moved here. I did some of the posting on the move out here, but last time was November of 2007. I blog...oh, about, like every three years. Well, you all have a good day running out to find Steve McQueen movies, and if you liked this story, you can always hope that I post again in 2013!)
