Ruth

First day of school, 1997!!

This is where it all began...

Now, it hardly seems possible, that we're graduating. High school's behind us, we're ready for bigger things in life. Plans and dreams are beginning to become reality.

Roberta and I (Hannah) have lived in eight states, plus Guam. We moved nearly every two years, which created quite the challenge for Mom's teaching schedule! Still, she and Dad managed our education in a way that only God could have ordained. Seeing many historical landmarks, national parks, and foreign countries was an adventure few get to experience! We're so grateful to the Lord for giving us the gift of parents who took the time and effort to train us for the furthering of God’s kingdom, and how he revealed to them His will for our education.

Our formal education may be over at home, but we'll continue learning for the rest of our lives. Our parents taught us to learn and teach ourselves. So the learning isn't over for us!

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee."
Psalm 84:11

None of this would have been remotely possible if it weren't for the precious blessing God gave us in our parents!! They've been the most phenomenal Mom and Dad ever, and we're so grateful that they're in our lives!!!!

Be the Best of Whatever You Are

If you can't be a pine on the top of the hill
Be a scrub in the valley - but be
The best little scrub on the side of the hill;
Be a bush if you can't be a tree.

If you can't be a bush be a bit of the grass
And some highway some happier make;
If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass -
But the liveliest bass in the lake!

We can't all be captains, we've got to be crew,
There's something for all of us here.
There's big work to do and there's lesser to do,
And the task we must do is the near.

If you can't be a highway then just be a trail,
If you can't be the sun be a star;
It isn't by size that you win or you fail -
Be the best of whatever you are!

In Which Sarah Borrows a Horse

The latest addition to our farm -- Sugar!!
(oooh... also see Rodeo pics one and two below!!)

Sarah's kind friend (and owner of many horses) has wonderfully agreed to lend her a horse while she learns to ride and tries to decide which horse to buy. Sugar's a sweetie... 11 years old and black and white. As you can see.

A girl and her horse. Classic.

Cutie!!!

Rodeo Time!! Yeehaw!

Yeehaw, it's rodeo time again!! Every June, the Pro-West Rodeo shows up in town for one fun weekend! The town comes alive for the annual rodeo parade and awesome events. Bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping, bronc riding, wild cow milking... they do it all. It's like a scene from a classic western... cute, small town America nearly overrun with horse trailers, cowgirls in sequins, dusty pickups trucks, horses in show saddles, and cowboys with their faithful collies and heelers.

The rodeo princess, one of the best riders in the county, in all her sparkled glory.

Bull riding!! Or not. As the case may be.

Yeah, even beach girls go to rodeos.

These are some gorgeous horses.

Cute girls!

Rodeo royalty... ready to round up the crazy cows. Giddy-up, cowgirl!

This is steer wrestling... see if you can catch the steer without a rope!! Not something your average person wishes to try. The guy who won got the steer down in about 6 seconds!! As you can see... the team rides out with the steer between them. The cowboy who does the wrestling jumps off his horse at a gallop and tries to wrestle the steer to the ground as soon as he can, while his partner catches his still galloping horse. Yikes.

The many wild events of a rodeo, including barrel racing, steer wrestling, bull riding, and racing.

Team roping! Boy, those little calves can run!!

Herding the calves.

Sarah is dying to learn how to barrel race now! Frankly, most of us girls are... after seeing those daring cowgirls.

And... the little cowgirl says "Howdy, and thanks for coming, ya'll! Come back soon!!!"

Not Too Much [the random life of us]

No doubt you've noticed that we haven't been hanging around computers too much these days. It's not that we haven't been doing anything... Summer is here!! Warm sunlight, gentle breezes, and clear skies mean grass to cut, calves to have, flowers to grow, and things to be fixed. I have done quite a bit of photography recently, as I'm taking part in a creative exercise... more details on my blog, if you wish. I've just been slack in posting them all...

So I hope you enjoy the pictures... and since I'm on Dad's laptop, I don't have very many here. I'll post again later once I get on the family computer. Later. =) It's too nice outside to sit in here any longer, so... goodbye!! Hugs!!

Me!

I think it get more and more random as this blogging life goes on. It's really easy.

We couldn't wait for our own strawberries any longer... we had to give in and buy a few!! Any day now...

Thanks for stopping by!!
