Un-Rodeo Weekend

Believe it or NOT (and you won't, cuz I still don't), but
I MISSED THE RODEO THIS YEAR.
Cue sobbing and wailing and weeping.
..
And look. My flipflops were ready. My FLIPFLOPS were ready to go to the RODEO, people! But my job called. Having a summer job is an AWESOME blessing, don't get me wrong, okay? I lovelovelovelove where I work, and it's really fabulous. But when I have to work weekends? RODEO weekends? It's kinda sad.
...
So I can content myself with looking at Dakota's gorgeous shots of calf-roping cowboys and barrel-racing cowgirls... big smiles, big horses, bull riders, dust and dirt and small-town love. Because I wasn't there to take any. (If you want to read any more about our small town exploding with rodeo-ness every June, just check out last year's post.)

However!! After work on Saturday, I drove down to meet my family (fresh from the rodeo!) at our fifties hamburger joint, which was awesome. =) So I didn't witness the events firsthand, but I got to sip Coke and listen to stories and admire my little sister's hand... which she got SIGNED... by a BULL FIGHTER.

People, people, people... this is one of the many privileges you get when you're FAIR PRINCESS!!
.
Yummmmmm.
.
These are the people that I love. =)
.
After dinner, Sarah hopped in my car for the drive home. On the way, we swung by the fairgrounds to see if any rodeoness was still going on. Um, no. Just horse-loading.
.
oh, well. let's take a beautifully long drive home?
.

Oh, also... let's stop on the side of the road to take princess pictures?
.
Can you believe this place we live?
Apparently not!
.
Well... it looks like a lot of people have been off-roading here lately... a favorite pastime of most teenagers where I come from!
.
Ever seen such pretty weeds? =)
.
She was S-U-R-E that some Saturday evening logging truck was about to come up that hill and smash her to pieces.
.
I hope it was some comfort for her to know that I'D get smashed to pieces, too... but she didn't seem to feel any better.
.
And we're all in one piece.
.
Gah wowowowowowow. She's cute.
.
Annnddd then, we were on our merry way once again.
.
Pickup truck love... yes? Something about girls (country girls) and trucks.
.
Sunshine in our faces... wind in our hair...

it took me a million years to get the tangles out, but it was so worth it. SO.

much love!

Confabulations of Candidness and Wit

In OTHER words... QUOTABLES!!

for your enjoyment -- original, organic hilarity... made fresh on the farm every day.
much love!
from us.

---

Hannah: Oh, that character is gonna turn out crooked.
Sarah: Yeah, he has a dark past, I can tell.
H: Yeah. And dark hair.
**disclaimer... Hannah has decided... it doesn't matter... what color hair you have... Mr. Tulkinghorn (Bleak House) is a blond... Ian (National Treasure)... the list goes on.

Roberta: How do they set a kid’s bone when it’s broken like that?
Sarah: The same way they do a human’s…

Sarah: I’m waiting for a tall, brown-eyed, blonde surfer dude.
Hannah: Oh, he’s blond.
S: Yeah, but he’s not tall or brown-eyed.
H: Gotta take what you can get!
S: I don’t have to get it, so why should I take it?

Sarah: How can you be a jerk while playing Monopoly?

Hannah: Guys, we are so… sooo…
Natalie: We’re so AWESOME!
H: Well. I WAS going to say “blessed.”
N: So humble.

Hannah: Dude, why are you slowing down? There’s no train coming!
Sarah: He’s just pretending to be a school bus.

Hannah's smoking up the kitchen with a hot skillet…
Mom: You better plan on helping paint the kitchen!
Hannah: I do, I do, I do!
Sarah: This ain't no wedding here, Hannah.

Mom: Dad hasn't gotten as many offers from [that company] this year and —
S: *looking at dad who's drinking out of the company's mug* AAANNDDD... Your still drinking out of their mug?!?!

Tyler: Well, I doubt your family is all sane.
Hannah: What’s THAT supposed to mean?!
T: Well, I doubt you’d all be as much fun as you are if you were all sane.
H: You doubt too much.

*referring to Hannah and Roberta*
Sarah: wow dodo birds are obviously NOT extinct!

Hannah: Hey, did you win?
K----: No, we were playing softball.
H: So you lost.
K: We didn’t lose.
H: But you didn’t win.
K: Yes, but I didn’t run.
H: I said “did you WIN,” not “did you RUN.”
K: Oh. Well, we won AND I didn’t run.
H: So YOU didn’t run but someone ran.
K: Well, obviously! We WON, didn’t we?
H: I’m not sure anymore.

Sarah: Don't eat that chili - it's too spicy!
Joe: Whooooo, boy!! That is kinda hot!
S: Really Joe... you don't have to eat it. There's no girls outside of the family around to impress.

Dad: where's Sarah?
Roberta: in the shower.
D: Sarah what are you doing in there?
S: I'm taking a shower?!?!

When Prince Albert gets a letter in The Young Victoria….
S: To “Your Serene Highness”?!?! If I were him I'd be like "Albert, Albert, it's Albert!"

Joe's Graduation // Part Two

This post has less to do with Joe's graduation and more to do with random Texasness, but since I called the prequel "Joe's Graduation Part One" this obviously had to be Part Two. Yes? Yes. Glad we got that settled. =)

Oh, and as a side note... Joe's finishing up his last few days of testing and stuff this week. I don't know if I mentioned that the paramedics had a few weeks of work left after graduation... but they did. And so we headed home and left him to wrap things up at school. Their huge national tests and stuff are sometime this week, so if you could pray for him and his class, that would be great!!

Texas already had loads of berries... cherries... oh, it was amazingly HOT.

And the peaches by the box made me feel like I was in Georgia!

The plum trees at the orchard.

What orchard? Glad you asked...
The orchard with the tractors in the pond. It was definitely a Texas experience! and Joe and Dad, of course, wanted to know how the tractors could be in there for 20+ years (or something) and never rust. I had no clue.

We were there to meet this fabulous girlfriend - Allix!! Allix and I had known of each other for a while - we both went to the same workshop in Texas, at different times. Through blogging and Instagram, we got to know each other better, and when we found out that we were in the same area of Texas, we just HAD to get together!!

Two photogs... trouble.

And plenty of laughs!!

Our fabulous little car. Like it? lol

check out more pics from our funtastic afternoon on my blog!
Me and my bro. =)

Full Texas experience!!

Allix's parents picking out the juciest watermelon... want a slice? =)

Texas dirt roads... loved 'em.

Does this look familiar to you ALERT guys? Heartbreak Hill... you guessed it. Let the name... inspire... FEAR!!
Being in Texas, we HAD to head to Texas Roadhouse one day!

Yeah. You should be drooling by now. =)

A few last minutes of goooooolden sunshine... makes my heart happpppy....

Mmm.

A leeeetle more driving...
Then it was time to retire for Monopoly and Pit.

Oh, I forgot... on Friday night we played vball for a few hours... just an ALERT staple, that's all. And I was having too much fun to take pictures. =)

Goodbye to old friends...

One last spin around the gorgeous campus...

And it's time to head off for our last Texas lunch - at Jersey Mike's. Not sure where the Jersey fits in in the heart of cowboyland, but go figure.

Joe. Talking with his hands.
