Sunshine, Sunshine

Today is the last day of January. One would think I'd have something amazing and striking to say... but, alas, I find myself at a loss for words. It's already the end of the first month of 2009!?! Can you believe that? Well, anyway - it's nice and sunny here - almost having a heat wave of high 30s!! (a rare thing in winter - when the average during the day feels like about 15.) And it's "nice an' sunny!!" (another rare thing.) And for those of you who lived with us in Florida, California, and Guam, you'll know we love the sun! (and for those of you who lived with us everywhere else, you'll recall that we longed for sunshine!)
Here are a few pictures for you too see today. Hope you enjoy them, and have a great day!!
Love from all the Ps...
Hannah

Peek-a-boo!

Pine needles - and a mountain in the distance.

Rosy cheeks!

Smile-y face!

The sun coming around the corner of the barn. I do not appreciate sun in my eyes, but I thought this time it wanted it's picture taken. I don't know about that little sun spot in the photo - It kind of ruins the effect. Ü
The view of another one of the many mountains in our area.

The "big barn"

Oh, It's a Winter-y Day in the Neighborhood

Well, it's been a little while since I've posted any "art" photos, hasn't it? Well, not too much happens on a farm in January. It's a little cold - ever heard the phrase "molasses in January?!" Well, we've discovered it to be true!! We keep a bottle of molasses up in the barn to sprinkle on grass hay for a treat in the summer time. But if you were to go up there now, you couldn't get any out no matter how hard you tried!! I suppose that's because it's 5 degrees below zero this morning... Ü
Well, I'll stop babbling and let you see the photos. Have a great day!!
Hannah (and the rest of the Ps)

The frost on one of the windows on the barn.

Isn't that pretty?!

Here's a crop of that previous photo, so you can see the pattern a little bit better.

This is across the street. The sun would be just to the right of the edge of the picture - that's why the sky is so washed out.

I took this photo to Picasa and tinted the sky a pinkish-peach color so that it looked like the sun was coming up! (that's kind of cheating, isn't it? but it's fun!)

The view up the road. The sky is a brilliant blue today - the first sun we've had in a long time!!

Rookie of the Year

Hello, blog readers!!
On Friday night (January 16, I think!) Dad, Mom, and Joe all attended the annual Steven's County Fire District 5 Firemen's Dinner in town. They didn't take along a camera (you all know I would have... Ü) so I don't have any pictures of that... but I do have some pictures of an award that Daddy won for 2008!! So, (without further ado...) here's the first picture of that...

How about that?! Dad was the official "Rookie of the Year!" 2008 was his and Joe's first year as being volunteer firefighters here in Washington.
The Rookie and his plaque!

The firemen's symbol on the top of the plaque (see the other picture to see what I mean.)

That's all for now!! Hope you come back to visit us again soon!!!

Abby's Photo Shoot

Hello, all!!!
It has been a little bit since I've posted. If you'll look back at the archives for this time last year, you'll notice that there wasn't much going on... well... that's the same for this year. I did have a "photo shoot" with Abigail this afternoon and we came up with these photos. Hope you enjoy, and have a great day!!
Hugs,
Hannah

Sisters!

Giggles!
Sweetness.

Talk about "laughing out loud!"

Very pretty.
Looks like a Christmas Card front, doesn't it?

Playing with photo-editing... Ü

I LOVE this picture.

That's all for now - I hope you come back to visit us again soon!!!

Farm Question #9

Hello, everyone! Oh, my!! It's been a while since I posted a Farm Question!!
But first (as usual...) here's the answer to Farm Question #8!!
What were barn lofts originally used for?
I'm going to use part of the article that DJ found as my answer... "Most barns have a gable roof. Lofts were originally used for storing hay... the sheltered area under the overhanging loft provided space for storing equipment and animals." The answer is... barn lofts were originally (and still are...) used for hay! Most barn lofts are still used for hay today, because it provides a great shelter from the weather and other outside animals can't get to it.
Farm Question #9
Do cows like apples?
You can post your answer as a comment to this post, or email the family with it. Thanks for playing the Farm Questions - have a great day!!

Geese Eggs, Cats, & School

Hello, everyone!
Today, I have for you some pictures of goose eggs, cats, and back-to-school happenings. Later on, I will take some pictures of the stormy weather outside and you can see that, too!! It's snowing really hard (and has been all day...) Hope you enjoy and have a nice week!!
Hugs!
Hannah
That's a goose egg! Isn't it huge?! She just laid her first egg yesterday!
Stuart (what post is complete until it was a cat picture in it?!)

Uh-oh. Trouble! (high-school chemistry... ergh.)

The first school day of 2009 began again yesterday - our first since holiday break!

Want to help? Ü
Wink!
Say "hi," Inky!

Aww... so cute!

What's "ova dere?"

On a more serious note... I took a picture of this sign that hangs in our kitchen and thought I'd share it with ya'all! Jeremiah 21:11 has got to be one of my favorite verses in the whole Bible.

That's all for today!! Come back and visit us again soon!!

Sheeps?!

We have a neighbor who asked us if we could take care of her sheep for a couple of weeks. So, Dad and some of our friends spent five hours yesterday chasing the sheep around in the two-foot snow (Ü) and now they are living in our barn. (The sheep, not Dad and our friends!!)
Mom took a few pictures of the sheep - the lighting wasn't the best, so they're kind of blurry. But at least you get an idea!!
Usually, I wouldn't be posting at this time on a Sunday morning, but, unfortunately, some of us Ps are sick and so we all stayed home. :-(
Have a great day!!
Hannah

All five of the girls. (I don't know if they have names or not... Ü)

Apologies

Hello, all.

I'm afraid that I'm out of favor with all my blog readers. We went to a New Year's Eve party at our friends house... and... (you're not going to like this, so I'll put it in a tiny font...)
I forgot my camera.
Can you believe that!? ME!? Forgetting my camera?! I was hoping you all would be nice to me and forgive me for not having pictures of the event just once! Ü I'm sorry, I know that pictures are the more interesting part (my ramblings are not very interesting... Ü). I hope to have some pictures of... something... soon!!
Thank you for visiting!! Hope to see you again!!
Hugs,
Hannah
